Delete Your Data
Last updated: August 31, 2026
MyShare is built so that you can split a bill without an account. There is still a record for your device, because that is how your free scans are counted. This page explains how to delete it.
In short
Open MyShare, tap the information icon at the top of the Add Bill screen, then Delete my data. It takes effect immediately. Bills you have already shared with other people are not deleted, because those links are in their conversations too.
How to delete it, in the app
- Open MyShare.
- On the Add Bill screen, tap the information icon in the top bar.
- Tap Delete my data.
- Confirm. The deletion happens straight away — there is no waiting period and nothing to email.
What is deleted
You do not need an account for this to do anything. Even if you have never signed in, MyShare holds a record for your device, and that is what gets deleted:
- Your device record — a scrambled, one-way identifier for the phone, when it was first seen and last used, the free scans you have spent, when they reset, and any ad credits.
- The record of any rewarded ads you watched.
- The list of which bills were created on your device.
And if you have signed in, whether or not you ever subscribed:
- Your account, including the email address you signed in with, and every device linked to it. Signing in is the only reason we would ever hold an email address, and deleting your data removes it.
What is not deleted, and why
Bills you have already shared. When you share a split, the link goes into someone else's messages. Deleting it would remove something other people are still using, sent by you but relied on by them, and they never agreed to that.
Shared bills are never deleted — not by this control, and not on a timer. Thirty days after it is created, a link stops accepting changes and becomes a read-only record of how the bill was split. The link itself keeps working for good. What deleting your data removes is the connection between those bills and your device: we stop knowing they were yours.
Those pages hold the items, the amounts and the names people typed for themselves. They do not hold your device identifier, your email address, or anything else that points back to you. If you still want a specific shared bill taken down, email us the link and we will delete it.
One thing we keep about you. A scrambled, one-way version of your device identifier, together with a short record of what that device had already spent: whether it used its one-time set of free scans, whether it claimed the one-time bonus for signing in, and where it had reached in its monthly allowance. That record holds nothing else — no email address, no platform, no bills, nothing about what you scanned.
This is deliberate, and it is the only thing that survives. Without it, deleting your data would hand back a fresh set of free scans every time, which would make this button a way to scan for free forever rather than a way to be forgotten. The value we keep cannot be turned back into your device, your email, or you; it is used for nothing else.
What happens next
The app keeps working, and you can still type a receipt in by hand at no cost, as always. But it does not hand your free scans back, and it is worth being plain about that before you tap it:
- Any free trial scans you have left are gone for good. Those are a one-time welcome, and deleting your data ends them early. This is the real cost of using this control.
- Your monthly free scans carry on unchanged. They arrive on the same date they would have anyway — deleting neither delays them nor brings them forward.
That combination is deliberate. If deleting your data reset the counter, it would be a way to scan for free forever rather than a way to be forgotten, and we would have to stop offering it.
A subscription is not cancelled by this. Only the App Store or Google Play can cancel a subscription, so if you have one, cancel it in your store account as well — otherwise it keeps renewing.
If you cannot open the app
Email us and we will explain what we need to find your record. Because we never store anything that identifies you personally, we may not be able to locate a device record from an email alone — deleting from inside the app is always the reliable route.
